GPS Post-processing Software

Introduction: PPro2 is a Windows® software package which processes raw GPS observational data to significantly improve positioning accuracy. With the right equipment and under the right conditions, one can achieve decimeter, centimeter or even millimeter level positioning. Such processing requires data to be collected from two GPS receivers, one of which be at a known position.

Using PPro2: Process data within seconds. PPro2 is extremely easy to use. Just specify the base and rover GPS observation files and click on the "Process Job" button. Advanced users may also specify additional parameters for processing.

Processing Methods: PPro2 supports both single and dual frequency receivers. The final accuracy that is achievable depends on various factors, but the list below should give one an idea of what to expect. It assumes the use of good geodetic quality equipment under low multipath conditions with seven or more satellites visible.

Long Baselines: With PPro2's robust modeling of the Ionosphere and Troposphere it is possible to process baselines of several hundred kilometers in length, especialy when using dual frequency equipment. SP3 precise orbit support virtualy eliminates the effect of broadcast orbital errors on longer baselines. Ionosphere-free L0 float solutions allow for accuracies of a few decimeters with tens of minutes of data over a thousand kilometers. Fixed solutions is sometimes possible with observations spanning several hours over a baseline several hundred kilometers in length.

Fast Processing: Two hours of 30 second interval data for a 2km baseline processes within one second on a 1.5Ghz PentiumIV.

Antenna Phase Center Corrections: When using two different antenna types together, phase center offsets and variations will be different for each antenna. PPro2 corrects this problem by applying antenna phase center corrections. The user can specify correction files in NGS or the IGS ANTEX format. The IGS format also allows for antenna individual corrections to achieve sub-millimeter accuracy.
